The Red Team, comprised entirely of Under-19 players, produced an impressive comeback victory on Thursday (09) in the National Super League Women’s Twenty20 tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket, defeating the Grace Team led by Vishmee Gunaratne by 17 runs.
What made the victory particularly noteworthy was the strength of the opposition. The Grace Team featured six players with senior international experience: Vishmi Gunaratne, Imesha Dulani, Kavisha Dilhari, Hansima Karunaratne, Malki Madara and Tarika Sewwandi.
Batting first, the Under-19 girls, led by Chamodi Prabodha, posted 107 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Grace Team were restricted to 90 in 19.3 overs, sealing a memorable win for the young Red Team.
