Sri Lanka A edged India A in a nerve-shredding one-day tri-series clash that went right down to a Super Over, but the tension didn’t end with the final ball.
A heated exchange broke out between India’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sri Lanka’s Vishen Halambage on the field, forcing Sri Lanka A wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella to step in and calm things down before it escalated further.
Earlier, the match itself was a classic. Both teams finished level after 50 overs, setting up a Super Over decider. Sri Lanka A posted 16 runs in the tie-breaker, powered by a crucial six from Sadeera Samarawickrama, who also anchored the innings with a brilliant 93 off 113 balls.
India A, in reply, faltered under pressure and could only manage nine runs. Rookie pacer Kugathas Mathulan, bowling with a slingy action reminiscent of Matheesha Pathirana, produced a decisive over, keeping Sooryavanshi and Suryansh Shedge quiet when it mattered most.
