Sri Lanka v Afghanistan series in doubt

Date:

The white-ball cricket series between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates is in serious doubt following Iranian strikes across the region on Sunday after the reported death of Iran’s supreme leader in US-Israeli attacks.

The escalation has disrupted air travel, with strikes affecting Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest hubs. Several airlines have temporarily suspended flights to and from Dubai, raising concerns over the tour’s viability.

“We are supposed to go to Dubai on 10 March. We have to assess the situation within the next couple of days,” said Ashley de Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.

The teams are scheduled to play three T20Is in Sharjah before a three-match ODI series in Dubai from March 13-25. Officials say safety remains the top priority.
